The World in 100 Years
A queer speculative fiction zine
What will the world look like in 20 years? In 100? What world do you want to see? These are questions writers in the realm of speculative fiction have written about for decades. They’ve explored worlds in space, dystopian planets with environmental catastrophes, magical realms with alternate universes, etc.. The options are limited only by what you can envision.
About This Project
This project was started by me, Deb! I'm an amateur writer who has written fanfiction for 3 years. I've been looking for an avenue to share original work, and collaborate with other writers. This zine is a passion project of mine! On this page you can learn more about the requirements for participation.
What is speculative fiction? It is an encompassing genre that freely explores possibility and impossibility alike. It consists of subgenres such as fantasy, science fiction, horror, alternative history, and more.Your story doesn’t need to have romance. The world itself doesn’t need to be the main focus, and can instead be about the people living within that world. This is a free digital-only zine, with no merch or physical copy at this time. Please keep that in mind when determining if you might be interested.
Requirements for participation:You must be 20+ years of age to participate. Contributors will be asked to create an original short story of 2.5-5k words. Sexually explicit content will not be allowed at this time, but mature and triggering content is accepted. For the final submission, we'll just ask that you provide any trigger warnings so that we might inform readers ahead of time. This is an AI-free zine. Anyone caught using AI will be immediately banned from participating. All accepted contributors will be invited to a discord server.
Moderators
This is an independently-run project of people volunteering their precious time. As of now it's just me, Deb, but I'm looking for two more editors, and someone who can manage graphics.
